Certificate Course in Evidence Based Diabetes Management (CCEBDM)

The fundamental objective of the Certificate Course in Evidence Based Diabetes Management is to improve the treatment outcomes for patients by serving as evidence based guidance for clinical decision making in risk assessment, diagnosis, prognosis and management of Diabetes. It is also an effort to translate and transfer emerging evidence from clinical research to clinical practice. This twelve month on-the-job training program, conducted once a month on weekend in online/virtual mode (particularly in this current Covid-19 pandemic situation across glob), is jointly certified by the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and Dr. Mohan's Diabetes Education Academy (DMDEA), Chennai. The course is supported by USV Private Limited.

This main objectives of the course:

Primary Objective

  • To enhance knowledge, skills and core competencies of Primary Care Physicians in the management of Diabetes.

Secondary Objective

  • To develop/update a standard teaching protocol and module for evidence based learning on Diabetes.
  • To build a network of Primary Care Physicians and specialists in the field of diabetes.
  • Update Primary Care Physicians with the latest advancements in the field of diabetes.

This program was the first globally recognized course by International Diabetes Federation (IDF) from 2014 to 2016 for training primary care physicians. The course has been also recognized by South Asian Federation of Endocrine Societies (SAFES) from 2017- 2019. In Lancet diabetes endocrinology, 2016, the model of this program was published. It has got several awards and Accoladess for the capacity building.
